You cannot run with the hare and hunt with the hounds 英文諺語
You cannot run with the hare and the hunt 不可腳踏二條船
You cannot have it both ways. Running with hare and hunting with the hounds is the deceitful behavior of one who fights of one who fights on one side and gives secret help to the other side. Terms for these traitors to the cause are “double-dealers” and “double-crossers.”
To deceitfully claim to remain on good terms with both sides in a conflict. The idea that one can’t legitimately support both sides of an argument is graphically illustrated by the hare/hounds imagery as there is no grey area – either the hare gets away or it is killed.
“Dave always wants to keep everyone happy, but I’m afraid he can’t
run with the hare and hunt with the hounds this time – the issue
